Cabaret Workshop ‘26-‘27 | Mondays
Ages 8-12 @ 7:00-8:00pm (possible extension to 8:30pm)
Ages 13+ @ 5:00-6:00pm (possible extension to 4:30pm)
Fee per 5 week session $265
5 Different 5-week sessions offered during the year. The fifth class of each session is the Cabaret Performance in our Studio Theater for friends and family, during class time. The Cabaret Performance will be filmed and provided free of charge.

*Limited to 4 students per session, if enrollment reaches 5-8 students the class will run 90 minutes. 4:30-6:00pm and 7-8:30pm
**Students attending at least two Cabaret Sessions, will be invited to sing at our Acting Showcase in our Studio Theater on May 24th!
In Cabaret Workshop, students will hone their skills as they work to perfect telling stories through song. To prepare for class, each student will be asked to select a song they have not previously performed that is age appropriate (we may suggest another option if we feel it better suits the student). For day one, we ask that the song is fully memorized so that we can get right to work! We also ask that you either share with us a PDF of the sheet music, or bring in two copies for the teachers and one for the student, as our Musical Director will accompany all singers on the piano for the Cabaret Performance. During class, the students will take turns performing their songs and receiving direction; it is important that they come into the class with an openness to change, there are so many ways to perform a song!
If you are looking to add new songs to your repertoire, improve as a performer, or simply to have an opportunity to perform a solo in front of an audience, this is the class for you!

Thomas Vivona trained at the Manhattan School of Music where he learned from seasoned artists such as David Loud, Mana Allen, Randy Graff, and Erin Dilly to name a few. There, through the student organization Alpha Psi Omega (APO) he had his first opportunity to direct; a workshop production of an endearing new TYA musical by Michaela Vivona about finding and accepting who you are in your heart, “Heartwork”. Since then, his love for directing has only grown and is so thankful to have gotten to work on shows like “Into the Woods”, “Alice by Heart”, “The Lightning Thief” and most recently "Annie Kids" here at American Theater Dance Workshop. It is incredibly inspiring to watch young artists find themselves in these powerful stories, and grow alongside their characters. I’m so excited to continue telling stories in my second year at ATDW!
