The American Theater Dance Workshop Presents

The STUDENT CABARET WORKSHOP with Performance (MASTER CLASS SERIES) Singers - looking to get your audition material to the next level? Do you want to feel confident standing center stage or in front of a mic? Spend 4 weeks investing in yourself, and your performance abilities all culminating in a cabaret performance in the ATDW Studio Theater with Musical Director accompaniment. Work on a specific new song of your choice (or one recommended for you by our artistic staff) during the workshop, receive coaching and direction and bring that song to performance level. Please choose and bring a song you have memorized but not yet worked on with a Voice Teacher or Coach. (NOTE: students will come with a song of their choice - as long as its age and ability appropriate we will work on that material with them. We may suggest another option if we feel it better suits the singer.) Thomas Vivona trained at the Manhattan School of Music where he learned from seasoned artists such as David Loud, Mana Allen, Randy Graff, and Erin Dilly to name a few. There, through the student organization Alpha Psi Omega (APO) he had his first opportunity to direct; a workshop production of an endearing new TYA musical by Michaela Vivona about finding and accepting who you are in your heart, “Heartwork”. Since then, his love for directing has only grown and is so thankful to have gotten to work on shows like “Into the Woods”, “Alice by Heart”, “The Lightning Thief” and most recently "Annie Kids" here at American Theater Dance Workshop. It is incredibly inspiring to watch young artists find themselves in these powerful stories, and grow alongside their characters. I’m so excited to continue telling stories in my second year at ATDW!
Meredith Julia Muirhead holds a BFA in Theatre Arts (Performance) from Hofstra University and has been a vocalist and pianist for thirteen years, having music directed productions of Rent, Annie KIDS, The Music Man KIDS, and Finding Nemo KIDS, to name some. Favorite performance projects include 35mm: A Musical Exhibition, Everybody (directed by Kevin R. Free), and Woyzeck. A Long Islander since birth, Meredith has performed on stages across Nassau County, has been a pianist for various community theatres and NYSSMA festivals since the age of sixteen, and works as the Music Director/Voice Teacher at Queens College Summer Camp's Little Theatre. Meredith regularly sings at the cabaret venue Don’t Tell Mama in Manhattan.
